Cause

• Rhinosporidiosis is a granulomatous infection of the mucous membrane caused by Rhinosporidium seeberi
• In India, most cases are seen in southern states
• Disease acquired through contaminated water

Clinical Features

• Presents as leafy polypoidal mass, pink to purple in color in the nose
• The mass is very vascular and bleeds easily on touch
• Surface is studded with white dots

• Other presenting features – epistaxis, nasal discharge, nasal stuffiness

Treatment

• Complete excision with diathermy knife
